Philosophy

Rockwall Christian Academy is a Christ centered, fully accredited educational institution. The school exists to help the children of Christian families by integrating biblical principles and academic excellence. This integration of faith and scholasticism takes place in an environment that addresses the needs of the whole person, which are: the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and social needs. By fulfilling the call of the great commission (making disciples) the school thus upholds and promotes the vision and spirit of Church in the City, which offers the educational experience of Rockwall Christian Academy to all families in the community.

“Rockwall Christian Academy is a Christ Centered...”

Rockwall Christian Academy (RCA) is a Christian School and must, therefore, be “Christ Centered”. For RCA, being Christ centered means that everything we do, everything we teach, everything we are as staff members, every aspect of the environment must lead students, directly and indirectly, towards Him who is the center of all things: the Lord Jesus Christ.

In attempting to live out the process of being a Christ centered school one aspect stands out as being the most important. A truly Christ centered school will not be developed merely by adopting curriculum from Christian companies, having chapels, and praying in class. The quality of Christ centeredness in a school can only be accomplished by Christ centered people. Curriculums, programs, and policies then become empowering factors in the hands of committed, born again educators who fully understand the impact their personal lives will have on the children and students who are entrusted to them. Christian teachers, then, who plan and work daily towards creating a Christ centered quality about their classrooms/programs and who daily allow the Holy Spirit to work in their personal lives through prayer and Bible study are the first key to fulfilling the philosophy of RCA.

“…Full Accredited Educational Institution.”

Once you have settled the issue of who you are as an institution, you may clearly focus on what you want to accomplish. What is it that we want for the children that receive their education at RCA?

We want the education that students receive at RCA to be an enabling factor in their becoming “disciples” or followers of Christ. Our students grow in knowledge of the bible, application thereof, character, morality, ethics, wisdom, world view, lifestyle issues, prayer life, serving God by serving others, communicating the Gospel, an intimate personal relationship with Christ and a willingness to submit one's will to that of God's will. To accomplish this formidable task will require more than simply enrolling a student in our school. It is the philosophy of our school that we exist to aid the Christian family and that we cannot replace it. We exist as an arm of a specific local church (Christian City Church) and cannot take the place of any local church in the life of a Christian family. We see the complete education as a partnership between the school, the family, and the family's local church. Active participation in a local church is essential to RCA families.

We believe the discipleship goal of RCA comes closest to being attained when the family finds a large degree of consistency between what is taught in the school and what is taught in their home and their church. Once the question of consistency has been settled, we believe the total environment provided by RCA has been and continues to be, an extremely significant training influence in the lives of the students who pass through our doors.

“...By Integrating Biblical Principles and Academic Excellence. This Integration of Faith and Scholasticism...”

While the lessons taught in our Bible classes and the atmosphere in our chapels maintain our integrity as a department of Christian City Church, the church does not seek that any child in our school embrace any doctrine or practice contrary to that which is taught in their home or church (within the parameters of conservative, Bible-believing churches).

Rockwall Christian Academy is more that the sum of its parts and it is difficult to encapsulate all that we are in a Philosophy. We are confident that the philosophy contained herein is an accurate description of what we believe about the education provided to our students.
