RCA Named 2010 School of the Year by ICAA/ORUEF

 RCA Wins International Award......July 9, 2010

The Oral Roberts University Educational Foundation, in conjunction with the International Christian Accrediting Association (ICAA) has awarded two major distinctions to Rockwall Christian Academy, naming the Rowlett, Texas educational institution School of the Year and RCA's Chief Administrator Mrs. Jeanne Zakem Administrator of the Year.

Both awards were presented at the annual ICAA Convention in Tulsa, Oklahoma in June 2010.  RCA and Ms. Zakem were both selected from an international group of 125 schools accredited by ICAA.  Each school nominates one administrator per year, and the eight-member Executive Board of ORUEF then chooses the winning school and administrator, based on the following criteria: Spiritual Depth, Administrative Leadership, and curricular/student achievements.

In a statement released by ICAA Chairperson Carolyn DeSalvo, the Board summarized its reasons for choosing both RCA and its Chief Administrator for this honor:

The school has continued to remain abreast of educational developments in its classes, resulting in a strong academic program the school meets the needs of individual students both through remediation and a gifted and talented program.  Finally, the school's athletics include a strong sports program that has resulted in state championships in baseball, football, and softball.

Ms. DeSalvo also goes on to say that the school has a very strong sense of family and community that has been developed under the leadership of the current administration.
